On behalf of the organizing committee for the General Assembly of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior, thank you for a remarkable job of organization of transport, social events, and local tours. This meeting has been recognized as the best of its type--ever. We have received many compliments from the 819 participants, who came from 35 countries.

 

It was obvious that all of you, Isabel, Allen, Don, Mary, and Nicole, put a remarkable amount of effort and time into this most successful of meetings. You also did it with warmth and friendship. We hope that you are aware of the fact that you now have many new friends and fans in nearly all parts of the World. Your choice of caterer and entertainment met with constant approval by both the attendees and organizers, who were amazed at the quality. The only attendees worried by all this were the Australians, who are organizing the next meeting to be held in four years: they most likely cannot meet the standards that were set at this meeting.
