ABIQUIU

Known as Georgia O'Keeffe country, this area is known for its stunning sheer cliffs and natural amphitheaters. Many admirers of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings will recognize a number of features in the surrounding landscape that she portrayed so successfully. The village of Abiquiu is largely a Hispanic town placed above the Chama River and affords a fine view of the rivers and mesas that once supported a large pre-Columbian Indian population. Ruins and the contemporary pueblos are accessible on this tour. (5 OR 8 Hours)
